Auckland’s largest Christmas lights display is back! The Glenbrook Vintage Railway (GVR) proudly presents the return of its spectacular Christmas Lights – Trains @ Night event for 2025 — an unforgettable festive experience for the whole family - proudly sponsored by Counties Energy.

Spanning 17 magical nights from December 5th - 7th & 10th - 23rd, visitors can step into a world of wonder as GVR transforms into a dazzling Christmas village — complete with festive markets, twinkling decorations, and the largest light tunnel in New Zealand.

Now recognised as Auckland’s premier Christmas light attraction, the event welcomes tens of thousands of visitors each year. In 2024, more than 55,000 people came through the gates across 16 nights — including our special Sensory Friendly/Accessible evening designed to provide a calmer, more accessible experience for visitors with sensory needs.

This year’s event promises to be even bigger and brighter, with:

It’s a Christmas experience like no other — where heritage steam trains meet the magic of the season under the stars.

Online earlybird tickets are limited each night — book early to avoid disappointment! Walk-up Tickets are available throughout the event.

Beat the Rush: Early December nights are generally quieter and perfect for families wanting a more relaxed experience. The final week before Christmas is the busiest, so plan ahead and book early!
