Waiuku Steel ‘n’ Wheels Festival 2015
Sunday May 10th
Waiuku’s Steel ‘n’ Wheels Festival 2015 turned on a fantastic day.
We had a great display of hot-rods, bikes, classic and vintage cars, trucks, military vehicles, displays and re-enactments, memorabilia and more!
Feature attractions included the extremely popular MASH and Ardmore Helicopters joy rides, explosive fire-ups from the Phoenix and Gubb’s Dragsters and a spectacular harvards air display from NZ Warbirds.
Also very popular with the crowds were the amazing Super Liquor V8 Chainsaw, racing the champion McDonald boys on the hand saw, the NZ Steel 50 years display, the Chainsaw carving artists and a WW2 battle re-enactment finale, gunfire and all!
Live entertainment was enjoyed by all ages with the Blues Brothers show, Roger Skinner & the Motivation, the Loose Units, Sunset Coast band, Waiuku Country Music band, Groovit and BJ the Clown. Festival goers were treated to some good old rock ‘n’ roll while members of the Franklin Rockers and others danced in the street, and some great country music with members of the Waiuku Line Dancing club joining in the fun.
The huge craft and food market was bursting at the seams, with all sorts of gifts and tasty treats to tempt festival goers.
We would like to thank our community for your support of the festival and the gold coin entry this year, which will help ensure the continuation of this fantastic event for our town.
To all of our exhibitors, supporters, volunteers and sponsors, we want to say a huge thank you for all your efforts which helped make Steel ‘n’ Wheels such a success.
Thank you for all the lovely emails and phone calls we’ve received from festival goers and exhibitors, letting us know how much you enjoyed the event and your desire to be here again next year.
It really was a wonderful day for Waiuku and the district.
This event was proudly supported by NZ Steel, SteelServ Ltd, the Franklin Local Board and the Waiuku Business & Development Association.
